Treaty of Shimonoseki

The Treaty of Shimonoseki is the treaty marking the resolution of the First Sino-Japanese War. It was signed in 1895, and ceded the island of Taiwan to the Empire of Japan, ending the Qing Chinese Empire's 211 year long reign over it.
