Taiwan Independence Party

The Taiwan Independence Party is a party within the pan-Green coalition that, as the name implies, advocates for Taiwanese independence. It was founded in 1996 after several radical figures within the DPP defected, leaving the party to establish one of their own where they would not be an internal moderate counterweight restraining them. This also helped the DPP clean its image and return to campaigning on a more moderate platform.
