Taiwan Garrison Command

The Taiwan Garrison Command (Chinese: 臺灣警備總司令部; Pinyin: Táiwān jǐngbèi zǒngsīlìngbù) was the KMT party-state's secret police force tasked with enforcing martial law. Dissidents and perceived enemies of the KMT were tried secretly in military courts and were not permitted to contact their families for years.

Chiang Ching-kuo was appointed head of the Taiwan Garrison Command alongside several other similar agencies by his father in 1955. The brutal crackdowns he bears the responsibility for earned him a reputation of ruthlessness among the Taiwanese public and even within the KMT.
