Jimmy Carter

James Earl Carter (born 1924), also known as Jimmy Carter, served as the 39th president of the United States.

In December 1978, he announced that as of January 1, the United States will be cutting official diplomatic ties with the ROC and establish de jure diplomatic relations with the PRC. To ease tensions, the US Congress passed the Taiwan Relations Act the following April.
