Hsinchu Science-Based Industrial Park

The Hsinchu Science-Based Industrial Park (Chinese: 新竹科學園區; Pinyin: Xīnzhú Kēxué Yuánqū) is an industrial park established with the purpose of lessening Taiwan's reliance on foreign technologies by developing a domestic research and development capacities. The founding principle of the park is to create a space where corporations can easily access highly trained engineers and researchers, thereby fostering innovation and development.

By 1990, the park had earned a reputation for being among the most advanced R&D institutions of the region, hosting 130 high-tech enterprises with a cumulative revenue of NT$60 billion at the time.
