Hometown Literature

The Hometown Literature (Chinese: 鄉土文學; Pinyin: Xiāngtǔ wénxué) movement began in the 1970s and reflected the shift towards a more Taiwan-centric consciousness emerging among most inhabitants of the island. The movement consisted of novels and short stories depicting everyday life on Taiwan with elements of uniquely Taiwanese culture indispensably woven into them.
