Economic Cooperation Framework Agreement

The Economic Cooperation Framework Agreement (Chinese: 海峽兩岸經濟合作架構協議; Pinyin: Hǎixiá Liǎng'àn Jīngjì Hézuò Jiàgòu Xiéyì) was an agreement the Ma administration attempted to negotiate with the CPP in 2014, that would have laid the foundations for the strengthening of economic ties between Taiwan and China. However, they were forced to abandon the effort after it proved highly controversial and sparked a student movement known as the Sunflower Movement.
