Chen Yi (Chinese: 陳儀; Pinyin: Chén Yí; 1883-1950) was the provincial governor of Taiwan Province in the early years of ROC occupation. He had previously served as chairman of Fujian province, and he was appointed by Chiang Kai-shek as head of the committee responsible for reintegrating Taiwan into China. His reign was characterised by economic turmoil as his administration seized over 90% of the island's economy, causing a subsequent crash. Corruption became rampant and illnesses such as malaria and the bubonic plague reappeared on the island.
Chen is also credited with the resolution of the infamous 2-28 Incident being as violent as it was.
