2-28 Hand-in-hand Rally

The 2-28 Hand-in-hand Rally Chinese: 228百萬人手牽手護台灣; Pinyin: 228 Bǎi wàn rénshǒu qiānshǒu hù Táiwān) was an event organised by the DPP on the 28th of February 2004, with the purpose of drawing attention to the KMT's wrongdoings in the past and garner support for the upcoming presidential election. The event was a success; supporters formed a more than 400 km long human chain from the Northern to the Southern tips of the island, with former president Lee Teng-hui and Chen Shui-bian holding hands in the middle.
